Back in 2018, I graduated from Harper Adams University after studying a BSc Hons degree in Agriculture. I had already heard about Pinstone and learnt more about marketing and communications when Helen one of our now directors (and also a Harper grad), came into deliver one of our lectures.
Growing up on a mixed livestock farm in Herefordshire, I’ve always had a desire to work within the agricultural sector. I wasn’t certain what that would look like when I went to Harper, and to be honest I still wasn’t 100% sure what I’d signed up to on my first day at Pinstone.
However, when I joined Pinstone back in 2018, the required insight and agricultural element of the role was right up my street, with a strong technical livestock background. However, I quickly honed my communications skills, through ongoing internal and external training as well as the support of the team, getting me to where I’ve got too today.
Five highlights from my five years working at Pinstone
- Working with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team every day who are passionate about delivering results for our clients.
- Working for a business that is dedicated to investing in its people and supporting individuals to progress through the business – something I’ve personally been able to benefit from.
- The Inspire Days are always a highlight for me – this is a chance for the whole Pinstone team to get together for training and then most importantly, a social too! We often work in small teams, and the chance to all be together and learn from each other is invaluable.
- Pinstone provides you with an opportunity to try new things and craft your own career journey. As a result, I work with a number of technical livestock clients day in day out – an area that I’m really passionate about.
- Fantastic training opportunities – I was fortunate enough to be able to complete the PRCA PR certificate with the support of Pinstone. This has supported me in my day-to-day role of developing strategic communication strategies that deliver for our clients.
Five ways Pinstone has evolved
- Since 2018, the size of the Pinstone team has doubled – the team is an integral part of Pinstone and it’s gone from strength to strength as we’ve continued to recruit experts in the field of communications and our target sectors.
- Our portfolio of clients has not only grown in size, but we’ve also branched out into new areas of the sectors – something that has provided exciting opportunities for us as a business and individually.
- In 2020, Covid changed everything and while it was a challenging time, it has provided many benefits such as hybrid working and more flexibility in working hours.
- Our offering for clients continues to evolve and while five years ago the majority of our outputs focused across print editorial, social media and marketing content – our digital offering has since expanded hugely, with us working much more closely with our clients on their whole PR, marketing and digital strategies. The latest focus is on AI and we’re running an event, AI: Friend or Foe, to share our knowledge on this topic in September.
- Pinstone has worked hard over the last 18 months to achieve B-Corp status. The Pinstone team are passionate about focusing on our entire social and environmental impact – as both are so important for our business and our sector.
